The technical result is to extend the duration for which the required temperature of a battery can be independently maintained in conditions of low ambient air temperatures, which is achieved in that a device for thermally protecting an automotive battery, comprising a cover, is characterized in that the cover is designed as a closed elastic container, the interior space of which is filled with a heat-storing material, and the inlet opening of the interior space of the container is connected via a heat conduit to a heat exchanger mounted on the internal combustion engine of an automobile, wherein a thermal diode is mounted inside the heat conduit, upstream of the inlet opening of the container.
