UK PATENT for a Golf Training Aid

This is a great opportunity to manufacture and launch a very effective yet simple to use golf training aid.

The selling price is set realistically so that any buyer will have scope to cover the subsequent cost of manufacture.

An advanced prototype of the training aid for a right-handed golfer is shown in the photos.

The sale price includes:

1) Transfer of ownership of UK patent rights to the buyer (easily achieved)

2) Four advanced, right-handed prototype versions of the training aid

3) Instructional DVD comprising:

Part 1 - Fundamentals

Part 2 - Common Faults at the Start of the Backswing

Part 3 - Demonstration of Training Aid/Methodology

4) Explanatory booklets on the training aid, but these can be modified by the buyer if considered necessary

Background Information

The aim of this UK patent-protected golf training aid (GB2367503) is to help train the golfer to execute a one-piece movement during the initial takeaway phase of the backswing, finally resulting in a full shoulder turn (90˚) at the top of the backswing.

This simple and very effective aid provides an indication of how the golfer’s body (torso) and arms link together during execution of the backswing (one-piece takeaway) and downswing. Also, correct use of the training aid will encourage correct weight transfer at the top of the backswing and during the downswing through the impact region.

Once the training method is implemented, the aid very easily shows whether or not the golfer’s wrists break (hinge) too soon at the start of the backswing. Also, the aid will indicate the angle of attack (steepness) at the start of the downswing. Too much wrist action during the initial takeaway phase of the backswing is a very common fault amongst the majority of high and mid handicap golfers; even some low handicap players will also exhibit too much wrist action. This is one of the main reasons why many amateur golfers experience so much inconsistency with their game.

The training aid has very good potential in being aimed at all sectors of the golfing community benefiting golfers at all levels, from the high-handicap player through to single-figure handicap golfers, and even the professional (club and tour) could benefit in certain circumstances. The nature of construction of the training aid is consistent with a low unit manufacturing cost.

The aid was featured in a top UK monthly golf magazine (Today’s Golfer) where it received a very favourable review.

As mentioned above, there is an accompanying instructional DVD (30 minute duration) that is endorsed and demonstrated by a PGA-trained club professional. Also there is a set of accompanying booklets that cover the general description of the training aid, its fitting (also covered in Part 3 of the instructional DVD) and a booklet showing ‘key checkpoint positions’ in the backswing and downswing.

Speaking from personal experience, once the philosophy behind the training aid is ingrained via muscle memory (easily achieved), I have found that even after a long lay off of many months from playing golf it takes only a couple of practice sessions at the driving range to prepare for a competitive round of golf. In contrast, under the same circumstances most average amateur golfers feel they have almost slipped back to their starting stage of playing the game.

My reason for selling is that unfortunately I cannot afford the manufacturing costs or time involved in getting the product to market. However, there is great opportunity for either an individual entrepreneur or group of friends/associates to invest together.

I am quite happy for any potential buyer to assess the merits of the training aid before bidding and also watch the instructional DVD at first hand, in order to make a more informed decision on the overall viability of the aid.

Once manufactured and with the appropriate contacts, there is a real opportunity to promote and sell the training aid in the likes of China, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand and Japan. Golf in particular is really taking off in China.

Note the selling price is set at a very competitive level.

Thanks for looking!
