Side cast fishing reel

A simple side cast reel that pivots 180 degrees beneath the rod to permit retrieving with either hand. It can be mounted on anything from bamboo poles to high quality fishing rods, made from plastic or metal, upgraded to hit about any price points, have interchangeable parts, and used in any country on earth. Product development has been successfully done to create CAD images and a proof of concept prototype, and a similar reel already on the market has been identified to assure commercial viability. The reel is thought to be an improvement on a reel that is already in existence, and is covered by a pending utility patent in the U.S.

An international application was also filed with the PCT, and all of the claims were accepted. The application has been positioned so that utility patents can currently be obtained in all of the participating PCT countries (virtually every nation on earth) before June 3rd, 2016. In the U.S. the strategy is now to accelerate the pending application by filing via the Patent Prosecution Highway, which should lead to a utility patent being issued in 3-6 months.

The business plan is to seek to monetize intellectual property via a variety of available channels. The most obvious alternative is to try to license to large global players having maximum manufacturing capability and reach. The terminal option would be to advertise to any parties whatsoever that are interested in buying IP.

Intermediary avenues could be targeting specific countries, smaller going concern companies, or entities having start-up potential. Given the simplicity of the reel, it could possibly be an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a vehicle to advance their small business. The reel has already been substantially de-risked by virtue of all the patent and product development work that has been successfully completed to date.
