Size Gauge and Weight Apparatus for Aircraft Carry On Baggage

This invention will provide a means of verifying that a customer's carry on baggage is within the airlines required size and weight constraints. It is self contained in that the customer is required to manually place the carry on baggage into the basket style structure and initiate the verification process by following the printed instructions.
Currently simple basket or structural style apparatus are being used at airports that only check for size of the carry on baggage but not the weight. Rarely do passengers check the size of their carry on baggage either due to the size of the carry on being well under the size limit, or in an attempt to carry on baggage that is oversize or overweight. Passengers tend to carryon luggage that is oversized so as to avoid baggage check in fees. This takes up more carry on space and results in less overhead baggage compartment space for all passengers and lost revenue for airlines.
This invention verifies that both size and weight requirements have been met. This invention will also not require airline resources to check carry on baggage randomly, taking away from their main duties at the ticket and gate counters. The airline personnel will be able to identify which passengers have checked their carry on baggage for size prior to boarding and which have not.
