Beach Towel Wrap

I have had this idea for several months or maybe even a year or so. How many times have you seen people get out of a pool in the summer time and because of the wind blowing, shiver? They grab a beach towel and wrap it around themselves and despite it being 100 degrees and summer still shiver. Not to mention they have their hands “tied up” and unable to do anything because they are having to hold the beach towel around them.

Well here is the idea. Take a beach towel; fold it in half, then cut a circular opening in the center of the fold of the beach towel. Making the opening large enough so that it will go over the head and both ends for the opening are equal from and to the boarder of the beach towel.

Then you would add ties on the back panel of the beach towel so that you can tuck in the front portion of the beach towel in and towards the back. You then will be able to pull the ties around front and tie in the front. Thus you will be able to have your hands free to do what you wish such as eat, drink or prepare foods or just do whatever you wish.

In some designs you will be able to add snaps or fancy ties up the side of the beach towel. Then your arms would be through the top part of the fold in the beach towel. Your hands and arms are now free to hold plates, cups or do other things with your hands and arms besides hold the beach towel around you.

In some designs you would just have the basic Beach Towel Warp described above. Other Beach Towel Wraps would have a “hoody”.

The Beach Towel Wrap would come in just basic solid colors or could come in stripes or designs. They would come in various sizes to fit kids at various ages as well as adults at various sizes both height and weight.

Later on and after catching on, one would then market to schools, colleges and high schools that have a swim team. Would come in the school colors as well as the name on the front or back of the Beach Towel Wrap.

In addition you would also advertise to places that have pools like athletic clubs, IE: Las Vegas Athletic Club, apartment complexes, senior living facilities that have pools. The marketing and advertising opportunities would almost be endless.

Swim wear companies would also be an opportunity for marketing and advertising as well.

You could also sell this product on Zazzle.com or other “dot com” web sites.

The above would be mostly for the United States market. However you could use the same marketing and sales plan for the overseas market as well. IE: Brazil where you might want to use a different type of material such as silk or nylon. Also you want to use a bright color design for Brazil and the European market.

For the most part I have been talking about the use of the Beach Towel Wrap to be used around the swimming pool. The Beach Towel Wrap can also be used around the house; like slipping it on after you get out of the shower or bath. Could also be used as just a “slip on” while you are around the house, before you get dressed for work or going out for the evening. Would also make a great move in gift for people who have pools.

Design: The Beach Towel Wrap will be made from the same material as any other Beach Towel. The Beach Towel Wrap can be made in the standard size that a towel company is already making. I would suspect that a good beach towel company would make several sizes. The standard size, tall, small, extra-large and in a child’s and teen size.

Design Two: Are numerous, solids, stripes, multiple designs and pictures. Could put the person’s name on the towel. Could be of different materials: IE: Brazil – maybe of a silk material.

Marketing: The Beach Towel Wrap would be marketed to “John Q Public at first.
College logos, football – basketball – baseball and other sports logos.
Could go to the large hotel chains such as the Hilton’s – Marriott’s and others to sale to. Any hotel chain that have pools or are on the beach.

Cost of Product: Not sure what it would take to produce this product. Would suspect that you could sell this item for between $14:95 and $19:95. Would like to make at least $1:00 per item sold plus. The Snuggie sold for $14.95.
I would ask for a certain fee up front and a royalty on each item either manufactured or sold.
I would suspect that we could sell several hundred thousand the first year.

Ideas for Sales

1. Color of the Beach Towel Wrap?
a. Will they come in various colors?
b. Will we be able to have solid colors, stripes or designs?
c. Would be able to have football teams, baseball teams, NHL as well as other sports team’s logos?

2. What sizes will the Beach Towel Wrap come in?
a. Children’s Sizes – toddlers – small – med – large
b. Adult Sizes – WOW – the many sizes of adults
c. Or will “one-size-fits-all” be the market.

3. Will we be able to eventually put logos on the BTWs?
a. IE: High School Swim Teams
b. IE: College and University Swim Teams
c. Actually does not have to be for school swim teams – could be with the school colors or logos. IE: Penn State – Blue & White or the Nittany Lion Logo.
d. IE: Hotel Chains such as the Hiltons – Marriott, ETC
e. IE: Could have Football, Basketball and Baseball teams on the towels. IE Pittsburg Steelers – Pittsburg Penguins – etc.
f. If we would be able to do “a to e” then we would want to do the team colors, or the colors - logos of the hotels.

g. Will we want to have the option of putting names on the front of the Beach Towel Wrap? Thus personalizing the Beach Towel Wrap: IE: Katelyn – Jennifer – Kathy – Matt / This would have to be through an Ad in the Sunday Funny Inserts or an Ad in one of the magazines that we get in the mail or As Seen on TV Ad.

h. Would we be able to sell them to the swimming pool companies like Paddock Pools or others? Bed Bath and Beyond as well as other companies that I may not be aware of. This would be in addition to Target, Wal-Mart – Sam’s Club – Bed Bath and Beyond – Costco - and ETC that I am not aware of.

4. At $14.95 with 20,000,000 = $229,000,000.00

5. At $19.95 with 10,000,000 = $199,500,000.00

6. Could we sell the Beach Towel Wrap on the ZAPPO.com – CafeExpress.com as well as other competitive .com web sites?

8. According to USA Swimming and the National Swimming Pool Foundation there are 10 million Swimming Pools in the United States, with 360,000 Public Pools that stay open all year. I would think there would be more than 10 million pools in the United States. However the companies have overseas stores and that would be an additional units sold.

9. Not to mention people would hopefully buy them for the BEACH as well. Here in the United States and other famous beaches around the world? How about for or to people who have boats?

10. Much more than simply a direct response marketer, Allstar is leading branded consumer products company that can drive retail sales and grow brands in a wide range of categories.

11. Target Stores = 1,591 stores in the U.S. and 220 in Canada.

12. Wal Marts and Sam’s Club 4,300 in the U.S.

13. Costco Stores equal 560

14. Bed Bath and Beyond 900

15. So almost 7,600 stores that I can think of.
