An apparatus for heating containers, comprising a plurality of microwave heating units, wherein each of said microwave heating units comprises a heating chamber and a microwave generator connected to a waveguide. which communicates with the respective heating chamber, wherein each of said heating chambers has a lid associated to an opening and closing mechanism , which comprises: - a pair of plates , fixed to said rear wall and having respective guides ; - a carriage , fixed to said lid and engaged slidably in said guides; and - a linear actuator extending in a vertical direction and having a first end articulated to said carriage and a second end articulated to said rear wall.
