SYSTEM AND METHOD TO MONITOR A VEHICULAR ACCIDENT

My invention is an automated system to detect the occurrence of an accident and provide an alert message to the recipients.
In the growing population all over the world, the population of Vehicles are also getting high and The Global status report on road safety 2018, launched by WHO in December 2018, highlights that the number of annual road traffic deaths has reached 1.35 million. Road traffic injuries are now the leading killer of people aged 5-29 years.
The burden is disproportionately borne by pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists, in particular those living in developing countries. The report suggests that the price paid for mobility is too high, especially because proven measures exist. Drastic action is needed to put these measures in place to meet any future global target that might be set and save lives.

So in order to reduce the deaths after accident and to get the help for the victims of accident in real time. we thought of having a Automotive device which can save lives i.e, when we identified the need for the product i.e OPIRI(Accident Informer System)

Once the system starts, sensors are made active and the camera starts to capture the video. In the event of accident, one or many of the sensors read value above threshold value indicating potential accident. Once the accident is confirmed by the micro-controller according to the inputs from sensor, the interior camera captures the interior of the car gets activated and starts capturing for the next 1 minute.
The user is given an option to press a switch to make sure he is fine. If he fails to press the switch in the given time (1 minute), this 4 minute video is sent to the respective authorised person.
OPIRI is a combination of different types of functionalities. It includes data collection and storage, decision making, and communicating the required data to the intended contacts. OPIRI can be divided into three subsystems in order to explain the overall functionality of the system. They are:
1. Sensors Unit.
2. Camera Unit.
3. GSM and GPS Module.
The above listed subsystems being part of OPIRI are interdependent. They are driven by a controller program or driver application. This application is responsible for the overall functionality of the system.

Existing safety systems are only designed to predict the accidents and reduce the impact of the same through automatic brake system, Air bags, system controlled Seat belts etc. No any systems are focusing on immediate actions necessary to be taken after the accident has taken place.
