Football - Free kick wall

The use of equipment for the training of sports people is common and is used to enhance their skills and performance on the field. In the area of football the use of a ‘wall’ is common in the game and consists of a line of players from the opposing team standing in the line of potential play or shot of the ball, usually in front or in the passage line of the goal. The line of players is part of the rules of the game with it often being used as part of a free kick, and it is their objective to prevent the ball going into the goal, this is achieved by the players jumping and using their bodies to get in the way of the ball, after it has been played or shot.
This is an area of play which is very difficult for both sides of the players to achieve successfully. The players who are trying to score a goal find it difficult to judge the correct angle and projective route for the ball and at the same time putting sufficient power and force into the shot to ensure the ball plays over the wall of players. While kicking the ball the player has little knowledge of which direction, height or at which moment an opposing player will jump, therefore they must try and judge the shot very carefully, which takes hours of repeated practice.
The players who take part in the wall assembly themselves also have a difficult process of being able to react quickly to the playing of the ball, to enable them to leap or jump int its path in a split second of time without any hand or arm contact during play. The present invention aims to provide an improved free kick wall training device for footballers which has a portable construction and has a line of players who are able to react and jump using compressed air, in real time, to the approach of the ball using infrared sensors as triggers.
