The application described herein presents a video translation system. The video translation system has a video interface to receive a first set of video data associated with an audio-visual communication between at least two users and an audio interface to receive translated audio data. The first set of video data features a first user and the translated audio data is translated from original audio data associated with the audio-visual communication of the original audio data originating from the first user. The video translation system also has an audio feature extractor to d determine audio-derived parameter values for a visual representation of the first user from the translated audio data, a video feature extractor to determine video-derived parameter values for a visual representation of the first user from the first set of video data and a video rendering interface to instruct a rendering of a second set of video data based on the audio-derived and video-derived parameter values. The second set of video data and the translated audio data are presentable to a second user as a video translation of the first user for the audio-visual communication.
