Universal Trip Coil Monitor
[Category : - ELECTRICITY & LIGHTING]
[Viewed 26 times]
The trip coil monitor (TCM) is used in electric power distribution equipment such as Switchgears and electric motor controllers to monitor the operation and status of circuit breakers and lockout relays for safe and efficient operation. They have indicator lights that visually inform users and operators of the status and working condition of the breakers and also send status signals to relays and PLCs through their dry (voltage free) contacts.
System operators, maintenance personnel, and automated protection equipment depend on accurate, timely, and unambiguous information regarding the operational condition of breaker trip coils, auxiliary contacts, and associated signaling components in order to prevent costly outages, respond to abnormal conditions, and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
However, know trip coil monitors used for monitoring the health and status of trip coils and their associated auxiliary contact arrangements encounter several challenges in achieving this objective. In certain circumstances, variations in supply voltage, polarity, or waveform may limit the applicability of particular monitoring devices to specific breaker models or installations, contributing to procurement complexity and the possibility of operational mismatch. Breaker assemblies may also exhibit conditions in which auxiliary contacts temporarily or unexpectedly break continuity during mechanical motion, creating opportunities for false or misleading interpretations by conventional monitoring systems.
To solve these problems, the Universal Trip Coil Monitor was developed as an improved device for monitoring the trip coils and status of circuit breakers and lockout relays.
The feature include:-
1) Same wiring for positive and negative DC trip bus.
2.Accepts wide range DC and AC power (48V-125V)
3) Six user selectable indicator light color via DIP switch for red, green, blue, orange, yellow and white colors.
4) Four user selectable operating modes via DIP switch for continuous trip coil monitoring or breaker status monitoring,
5) Monitors trip coil health in pre-close, post-close and in latched trip states.
6) Logically detects misoperating breaker auxiliary contacts. Turns off indicator light when both auxiliary contacts are closed.
7) More than 300 milliseconds relay dropout time.
8) Saves costs and delays of engineering change orders caused by mistakes in TCM selection and ordering. It is one product adjustable to function in any TCM mode desired.
Financial informationWe want to sell it outright or have a hybrid of upfront fee and royalty. Payment pattern is negotiable.
Trip coil monitoring market as at today is estimated to be at about 600 million US Dollars and expected to reach over 1 billion Dollars by 2033.
This product solves many problems big companies in the industry are seeking to solve especially in voltage compatibility and adapting their products to work well in systems having negative DC trip bus.
Customers and end users are looking for products that will solve their needs and reduce their selection mistakes, errors and confusion. It is one product for all TCM applications.
The product will take a major share of the market.
