Computer Arithmetic of Complex Numbers & Arithmetic Unit VHDL-model.
1. The project in the following structure is offered:
o The electronic book with the theory and engineering decisions for computer arithmetic of complex numbers;
o Libraries of VHDL-model of the arithmetic device with available as fully functional and synthesizable VHDL source code;
o Test system with assembler;
o Program-browser for work with VHDL-model and test system.
2. In the project it is possible to see
o New algorithms and schemes for high-speed calculation of all elementary functions of complex variable;
o New algorithms and schemes for the high-speed decision of the transcendental equations;
o The full theory of computer arithmetics of complex numbers;
o Full open VHDL-model of the arithmetic unit;
o Test system for this VHDL-model;
o The assembler for development of own tests.
3. Summary.
In the project the full little-known theory and the patented engineering decisions for the computer arithmetics of complex numbers based on a method of positional coding of complex numbers is considered. The VHDL-model of the arithmetic unit for operations with binary codes of complex numbers is in detail described. This arithmetic unit contains more than 200 operational devices and carries out more than 400 instructions for operations with several forms of real and complex number representation (integer, fixed point, float point, logarithmic, polar). The project contains about 300 pages of the theoretical description text with illustrations and examples. The project also is supplemented with the libraries containing the full VHDL-description of the arithmetic unit. This description contains more 500, VHDL sources , более more than 800 schemes of operational devices and diagrams of algorithms.
The project contains the book and the program which is intended for viewing catalogues and libraries, works with test system, works with mathematical model of computer arithmetics of complex numbers for imitation and the analysis of those algorithms which are complex for the analysis at a hardware level or are not included in VHDL-model, etc.
The project is focused on the user who is going to apply computer arithmetics of complex numbers in own development of processors to the decision of those problems where operations with complex numbers make the most part of total amount of calculations. The project contains the information necessary for
o understanding of functioning of the arithmetic unit in all details,
o uses of model as a whole and its any part as the prototype for own development.
Besides the project can serve as the manual of studying computer arithmetics of complex numbers and the manual on practical use of language VHDL for development of the finished multipurpose device.
