Problem: when building a brick wall, vertical calibration is nowadays achieved by using the water-level. Either the water-level is permanently used in order to vertically calibrate every additional layer of bricks or the water-level is used in order to bring a plank in a vertical(ish) position (in both vertical dimensions), in which it must then be fixed manually so that it can serve as an orientation when raising the brick wall.

The problem with both procedures is twofold: first, manual vertical calibration using a water-level is always imperfect and secondly, it is very burdensome and time consuming. The invention at hand solves these problems.

The invention basically consists of a stick which (i) on its one end has a weight fixed to it and (ii) which is mounted in a way that the stick can freely move in all directions. Following the rules of gravity, this system will guarantee that the stick is always in a perfectly vertical position (in both vertical dimensions).

This vertical calibration tool can either be fixed to an existing wall or it can be used on a separate holder.

A patent for this vertical calibration stick was granted by the German Patent Office on 11 October 2013.
