We would be very grateful if you could consider our patent. It was designed for the welfare of patients, which is in line with your long-term objective.
Our research group has designed and produced an intravenous cannula needle that has holes and / or slits along the cannula is positioned within the vein. This leads to an increase in the flow and consequently we can decrease the size of the needle. For example a current pediatric intravenous needle cannula 22 Gauge (blue) has a flow rate of 42ml/min, while our 22 gauge cannula has a flow rate of 100 ml / min. In practice with our IV catheter neonatal you can do therapy in adults and pediatric you can make emergency therapy in adults.
This gives the following advantages:
1. Causes little or no sensation of pain to the patient without resorting to active ingredients.
2. Reduces the probability of damaging the blood vessel.
3. Low production costs. In fact, in our patent is indicated the method of production of these holes and/or slits (see pictures in the electron microscope, note net margins of the holes without smudging).
4. Significantly increases success rates in locating blood vessels; even in patients with serious venous conditions.
Furthermore our range of only four catheters, rather than six or seven, covers all flow rates.
This will be an additional advantage for hospitals acquiring this product as it will reduce waste of little used and, out of date catheters.
Besides which the original structure of the peripheral venous catheter remains unchanged; removing the need for further training of hospital personnel.

The patent search report came in the month of March 2014 describes the acceptance of the product news and the method of production.

With this medical device we won a competition in Italy and we were the finalists among the four best projects Italian Life Science at National Innovation Award 2014 Sassari (Sassari PNI 2014 Loren medical devices).
